Signs with QR Codes

A QR code is a square with typically black and white fields that acts as a barcode. Modern cell phones, so-called smartphones, can use the phone’s camera and a QR app to scan the code in the image and you don’t have to type anything. If the code leads to the website (which in Umepedia’s case is a Wikipedia article) you are automatically moved there. Since we use a clever program in the background you will get the Wikipedia article in the language that you have on your phone – automatically!

If the phone does not already have a QR app, there are free versions to download to your phone via Market (Android) App Store (iPhone) or Marketplace (Windows Phone). One helpful hint is to search for “QR reader”.

On this map you can see where the intended information signs are planned to be located.
